IMG_5664Our friends at Weta Workshop had so many great items at Comic-Con this year. Starting from next week, and continuing for the following two weeks, fans will get a chance to place pre-orders for some of these items. The first item will be available on August 3rd, this  item being my favorite piece at Comic-Con, Minas Tirith. Then on the following two weeks, August 10th and 17th, we will get the Uruk-hai Swordsman (August 10th) and Dain Ironfoot on War Boar (August 17th). All three items will become available for pre-order at the same time starting at 2pm PST.

LordoftheRings001Discussion Forum member Ethel Duath recently posted a link to an article on slate.com regarding a simple answer to a simple question: why is The Lord of the Rings considered such a classic? Did I say a simple? Ernest W. Adams, who answered the question on Quora, considered it to be J.R.R. Tolkien’s development of languages and back-story for Middle-earth and each of its races. A great answer! But, is it that simple? No doubt we each have our opinions on the best answer, or answers, to that question. Why do you think The Lord of the Rings is such a classic?  Let us know in the article comments and/or weigh in on our poll. While you’re thinking about it, check out Mr. Adams’ reasoning in the slate.com article here.

10862725_796487747095429_5513024793841096753_oAmazing artist Jerry Vanderstelt is back with some more great pieces.

Tonight, we’re pleased to let you know that he has created a series of portrait prints capturing The Nine Walkers, aka The Fellowship of the Ring. These prints are stunning and capture the personalities of the characters we’ve come to love so much.

As of now only Gimli, Legolas, Merry, and Pippin are up for sale. You can get them in either 12×16 at $39 or 17×22 at $69.

If you’re a fan of The Lord of the Rings films then these are a must have for your collection.

Update: Jerry has now added Strider and Samwise.

LOTRFaramir2Yesterday our friends at Weta Workshop had a nice surprise for us. The second statue in the relaunched The Lord of the Rings statue line is now available for order.

As you may recall from Comic-Con last year, The Balrog -Demon of Shadow and Flame, as well as Faramir, were on display.

Faramir, a character so many of us have been waiting for, can now be yours to order for $249 at an edition size of only 1000 pieces worldwide.

If you hate waiting like me, then you’ll love that this is also in-stock and ready to ship now!

The likeness and detail on this statue are some of Weta’s best work. Having a chance to add Faramir to your collections will be one you won’t want to miss.

hobbitdossmaugkingblrg2The last couple of days have presented us with several new collectibles from the amazing folks at Weta Workshop. The first new item is from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and is none other than the Dragon himself Smaug. This is the mini-version we saw at Comic-Con this past July. This fun sized Smaug which is still plenty big, considering that Smaug himself isn’t a tiny one, comes in with solid price tag of $125, which will be shipping between December-February. Anyone that orders Smaug – King Under The Mountain will have to put down a 20% NRD when they order.

In conjunction with the final of The Hobbit Trilogy fans can add a commemorative pin for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. This pin can be added to your collection for only $10.99 and is in-stock ready to ship. The final item comes from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. If you’ve enjoyed collecting the pins from The Hobbit Trilogy now you can also do so for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This three piece set covers all three movies for $29.99 with this also being in-stock and ready to ship to your collections.
