One of the companies out there that has some really neat items from various movie franchises is Funko. They’ve touched upon Middle-earth before, with some items from The Hobbit Trilogy as well as a Sauron Funko Pop from The Lord of the Rings. Well last week Funko announced they’re going back to Middle-earth, with even more items from The Lord of the Rings. This time we’re getting the likes of Frodo, a chase variant Frodo, Gandalf, Saruman, Nazgul, Samwise, and my personal favorite The Balrog (this will be a 6″ super pop). These are going to be a blast to collect and will look awesome on the shelf. Fans can pre-order these from various places now, and they’re due out in June of this year. If you want to check out the full release you can go to the Funko Blog.

fotr-movie-posterOn December 18, 2001, TheOneRing.net introduced a new feature on our site: Ringer Reviews“A database of reviews from Tolkien fans all over the world, whether you loved, liked or hated the film this is where you can express your feelings in words and celebrate with your fellow fans the release of the first installment in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.” Twenty-four hours later, fans had posted 3,000 reviews. By Christmas the count was up to 6,700 and on January 19, 2002, a month after FOTR opened, over 10,000 reviews had been submitted.

Today the count stands at 15,084 reviews. Unfortunately, the individual reviews reside on our old site and have been archived. But, we thought it might be fun to revisit some of the overall results, more of which can be found at the Ringer Reviews link above.

14756336341ca934fe51f1d07fb239361f5cd8cfe8Previewed during Comic-Con 2016 at the Weta Cave, our friends at Weta Workshop are proud to announce their newest statue for The Hobbit Trilogy line of statues. Joining the collections of many collectors world-wide is none other than The Witch-King as we saw him at Dol Guldur during The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. This fantastic statue is a super dynamic pose of The Witch-King looking to take out a member of The White Council. Collectors, you can add this to your collection for $349 and I would do so quickly as the edition size of this one comes in at only 750 pieces. The expected delivery of this one is scheduled for December of this year.

lotrLast week we teamed up with our friends at HarperCollins to give away 10 of their amazing The Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy coloring books.

Now, after all the ping pong balls have landed, we’re happy to announce the 10 lucky fans who will be getting a copy delivered to their doors. There are 6 winners from the United States and 4 winners from other areas of the globe. We want to thank HarperCollins for allowing us to give these away and for including the Ringers who don’t live in the United States. Weta CaveOne of the many things I love about our friends at Weta Workshop is they’re always trying to find ways to bring new collectibles based on the world of Middle-earth into our homes. Not only that, but they listen so well to the things fans want, and this is a line that has been gaining steam from what I’ve been seeing at places like The Flame of Udun. Showing up at Comic-Con 2016, these new 1:30 scale Middle-earth pieces will give fans a chance to create dioramas or mini-scenes from both The Hobbit Trilogy and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. As you will see in this video, the first piece being done is capturing the events of Dol Guldur during The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. One thing of note when it comes to this line: you will be able to buy lots of these figures individually so you can create a scene however you’d like. There is also one surprise in this video of something we may see at Comic-Con this year. Let us know if you see it.
