Here’s a funky new trailer for the Lego video game for The Hobbit, done in the style of Ocean’s Eleven. Pretty neat. It does seem to emphasise the teamwork element of the game, something that IGN’s reviewer of the just-released playable demo wrote about approvingly just the other day:
Already in this small section of Goblin Town, buddy-up was used in a handful of ways, and and considering Thorin, Fili, Kili, Oin, Gloin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori and Ori all have different ways of interacting with the environment and one another, I’m excited to see how else the mechanic will play out.

Folks with a PC running Windows 8, 7, XP, or Vista can now download and install a free demo of Lego’s forthcoming The Hobbit videogame.
The demo sequence allows you to fight your way out of the Goblin town in the Misty Mountains. One very neat thing I observed is that the narration is by none other than Christopher Lee. Continue reading “Download and try-out Lego’s new demo for The Hobbit video game”

Continuing on from our post earlier today about the Home Video release of the Theatrical Edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, here’s some further information we’ve gathered about different versions which will be available around the world.
In the UK, where the release happens on April 7th (one day earlier than anywhere else!) it looks like there will be the same editions available as will be in the US – namely Blu-ray 3D combo pack (£18.00), Blu-ray combo pack (£16.50) and DVD (£14.50). It seems likely there will also be a Collector’s Edition in the UK – most likely those same Noble Collection Dwarven bookends – but we don’t have exact details on that yet.

At last October’s BrickCon in Seattle, a new collaborative LEGO creation was unveiled to the world. Alice Finch, the same talented artist who created the largest LEGO Hogwarts ever built, teamed up with fellow creator David Frank to build their own version of Middle-earth’s Rivendell. There have been other impressive versions built before but this may dwarf them all. I was fortunate enough to see this in person and it was truly spectacular! It really captured the hearts of the public attendees at BrickCon where it picked up the People’s Choice Award. LEGO blog The Brothers Brick has a great interview with Alice and David, that goes into how and why they came to build this amazing version of Lord Elrond’s domain. The photos show all the detail inspired by “The Fellowship of the Ring” and “An Unexpected Journey” as well as the massive size. It even lights up!

You can enjoy more images on Flickr. Congratulations to Alice and David on a beautiful version of Rivendell!

Over on the Brickset forums (home to many, many Lego fans), some interesting images have popped up, taken from the back of instruction booklets for the of the 2014 Hobbit sets. The images from Brickset member sidersdd appear to preview a LEGO The Hobbit video game to be released sometime in 2014.
Seems it will be released on all major gaming platforms including the Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC. Check the teaser images below! Continue reading “Lego bringing out new Hobbit video game in 2014?”
