Future “Hobbit” director Guillermo del Toro and former “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson sat down with a world-wide internet audience and answered a lot more than the announced “20 questions” this weekend.
Hosted by Weta, there were a lot of minor details and significant confirmations and revelations about the gigantic production that will yield two “Hobbit” related movies, one in 2011 and the second in 2012.
Peter Jackson said,
“2009 will be dedicated to pre-production on both movies and 2010 will be the year we shoot both films back to back. Post productin follows one film at a time with The Hobbit being released Dec(ember) 2011, and F2 (film two) release(d) Dec(ember) 2012.”

Garfeimao writes: I received a rather intriguing email a few weeks ago from someone at WETA. They simply asked for details of when and where the Cruise to Middle-earth took place. When I confirmed that the cruise would have a full day in Wellington, they invited our group for a little visit. When I asked “what do you have in mind?”, the below itinerary is what came out of this discussion. Continue reading “TORN Cruise now has Extra WETA Coolness!”
Garfeimao writes: With the opening of The WETA Cave, it was decided that a slight alteration of the Wellington day trip on the Cruise to Middle-earth should now include this intriguing shop. So, there will soon be a new itinerary posted for the land portion of the Hobbit and Wizard packages to reflect this change in Wellington. Just know that if you are thinking of going on the Cruise to Middle-earth, you will get to see The Cave.
And that reminds me, time is quickly running out on being able to book this cruise at the Group Discounted rates I have. Space is being pulled in a matter of days and then after that, the price of the cruise portion will go up to the Full Tariff Rate. Cabins will still be available, but the prices will no longer be stable and some of the group amenities may not be offered. Given the number of artistic people who love The Lord of the Rings it’s no surprise that a sketching tour of New Zealand should prove popular. Organized by regular LOTR tour providers Red Carpet and LOTR artist Daniel Reeve, the tours will take people around the film locations. A master watercolourist, mapmaker and calligrapher for LOTR, Narnia, King Kong and many other films, Daniel will share his skills with the October tour, leading workshops and demonstrations on the amazing landscapes used in the film. Places still remain for the sketching tour, which runs from 13-25 October. Find out More.
Garfeimao writes: Space will soon be disappearing from the Cruise to Middle-earth. This cruise has been on sale since August of last year, and Celebrity is very happy with how successful it has been. But the cruise line now needs some of the space back in order to follow through with some of their own promotions. This is a standard move in the cruise industry, and I am working with Celebrity Cruises to see how much space I can still hold, and for how long.
If you have been on the fence about whether or not you would like to go on the Cruise to Middle-earth in November of this year, your time is running out!. I’ve been able to set aside a few cabins in each category, but only a very few. So strike while the iron is hot, or while I still have cabins to sell to Ringers of intelligence to go on this journey, quest, thing.
