082708_hobbitIt has been well documented that Guillermo del Toro will approach the original The Lord of the Rings cast to reprise their roles in Middle-earth should the script call for it. News comes today from the MTV Movie Blog that one such actor, John Noble, won’t be available:

“If they said, ‘Would you come and play Denethor again,’” Noble said, “I would have to say, ‘No, I’m doing [new J.J. Abrams television series] ‘Fringe’! And I certainly couldn’t play a younger Denethor or even Ecthelion now that I’m an older John. Not even with makeup.”

He was born in Port Pirie, South Australia, Australia. He makes occasional appearances on the television series All Saints. FOX's 'Fringe' Adds 'Lord of the Rings' Co-Star From zap2it.com: John Noble has scored one of the leads in FOX’s J.J. Abrams-produced drama series “Fringe.” … Scripted by Abrams and frequent cohorts Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, “Fringe” focuses on a young female FBI agent whose investigations into unexplained phenomena lead her to an eccentric research scientist (Noble) and his estranged son…While his credits include “Fracture,” “Running Scared” and TV appearances including “24” and “Journeyman,” Noble is almost certainly best known from his work as Denethor in “The Return of the King.” FOX’s ‘Fringe’ Adds ‘Lord of the Rings’ Co-Star

Noble is a 'Journeyman' Asfaloth writes: I don’t know if anyone else is a fan of the NBC Time Traveler show “Journeyman,” but I was pleasantly surprised to see a familiar face on last night’s episode. None other than John Noble! His character is as yet uncredited on the IMDB, but it appears that he’ll be a series regular.

And yet there’s another “Lord of the Rings” tie to this show. “RINGERS: LORD OF THE FANS” Dorm Girl #1 Brittany Ishibashi played Melissa Waters on the episode entitled “The Year of the Rabbit.” I hope that John will be appearing on future episodes – it’s a pretty good show.
