From latimes.com (thanks to nokA) “Consider the accelerated pace of Vuguru’s “The Millionaire Tour,” a thriller with elements of Tom Cruise’s 2004 cab driver hostage drama “Collateral” and Kevin Spacey’s suspenseful 1995 crime mystery “The Usual Suspects.” Jones said she read the script in February. The series started shooting in May. In the feature film world, such development could take 18 months or longer.

Dominic Monaghan, who has appeared in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and on the ABC-TV series “Lost,” said he was attracted to “The Millionaire Tour” because of the quality of the script as well as the opportunity to be in the vanguard of the changing media landscape. “Right now, there is a slight novelty value … to making a movie that is specifically made for an online release,” Monaghan said. “But I think in the next five to 10 years, everyone will be doing it and this film will be recognized as one of the forerunners. And that’s important to me.”

According to an article in the DailyRecord.co.uk today, actor Billy Boyd (Pippin) is planning a trip back to New Zealand this year to visit The Hobbit set during production. Billy, Elijah Wood (Frodo), and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) want to catch up with old friends and, for Billy and Dom, try to land even the smallest of cameos in the background. As Billy says in the article:

“Most of the guys have been back for a little trip or something but I have not managed it.

“I have been talking to Dom and Elijah and we are all going to go back this year. We will all go together, like a reunion trip. We want to go and see the sets.

“And while we’re there, there must be something for us. They must need a hobbit in the background somewhere. I can even put the big feet on myself!”

The article goes on to discuss Billy’s upcoming projects, music career and more. (Psst – Billy, if you feel like sharing some pics from your visit, send them along! We’d love to share your reunion experience!) [Read on]

Thanks to Ringer Pasi for sending us this link to a LA Times blog video feature from last night’s Grammys. In the clip, Dominic Monaghan (Merry), talks about the past year and future products. At around the :44 second mark, he is asked about ‘The Hobbit’ films:

The British actor will be noticeably absent in Peter Jackson’s return to Middle-earth when the director takes on “The Hobbit,” but he’s dealing with it in stride: “I’m bummed in a nice way.” He added that he didn’t rule out working with the director in the future.

Orlando Bloomtimesofindia.indiatimes.com and other sources (possibly all from the same source) are reporting that Orlando Bloom has asked, and will receive $1 Million dollars for his 2 minute cameo in the Hobbit Films. While we cannot confirm or deny this bombastic rumor, it begs an interesting question, how much is a possible 2 minute cameo worth?

The same article also makes a throwaway note about Dominic Monaghan joining the cast, lazy reporting or actual scoop? You Decide. Take a look at the article in question here.

Congratulations to Pippin, aka Billy Boyd, who got married yesterday at a service in Glasgow, Scotland. Billy married his long time partner Ali McKinnon. The ceremony served as a LOTR reunion of sorts as both Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan were in attendance. Read more in the following EveningTimes.co.uk article. [Read More]
