A few minor snippets about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies out of Denver Comic Con last weekend.
Sylvester McCoy, who is not travelling to San Diego Comic Con, indicated that he’ll be in London around July 18 for pickup work. It seems as though Philippa Boyens will be there to directing the additional dialogue recording with Peter Jackson overseeing things from New Zealand.
We also hear Jackson may schedule a trip to London around the time of San Diego Comic Con. Continue reading “Denver Comic-Con news: Sylvester McCoy set for July pickups”
Ringer Matt sent us this little snippet from a chat he had with Manu Bennett at the Sydney Supanova last weekend.
“I was able to have a quick chat with Manu Bennett (AKA Azog) whilst I was getting his signature. He said he had not completed filming for Azog yet on the final film and he was set to return to New Zealand next month to finish up.”
Come and share your opinion about this on our Hobbit Movie Board over on our Message Boards.
I’ve been reluctant to weigh in on the “when is the trailer coming?” apart from putting in the occasional “soon”. But it kinda feels as though there’s a mob of very hungry dwarves piling up at the front door right now (and me without so much as a seedcake in the pantry), so we recently put out some feelers to try and gauge what’s going on.
And, honestly, no-one knows for certain right now. That’s what it boils down to — it will come when it appears and as soon as we know, you’ll know. Continue reading “Some clarification of the Hobbit trailer situation”
Many people have written to us over the last five or so days about a story that has begun circulating around the internet concerning Thorin Oakenshield and the final Hobbit film, The Battle of the Five Armies.
Frankly, we hoped this story would die a quiet death because it is simply not credible. However, a couple of web media outlets have picked it up so somewhat reluctantly here we are quashing a rumour that simply has no credence at all.
Seeing as this is obviously leading us into spoiler territory, if you are avoiding them or have not read the book (I know there are a few of you out there), then look away now. Continue reading “Debunking that Hobbit movie rumour about Thorin Oakenshield”
A little bird came knocking today, and whispered some intriguing — and slightly baffling — news into our ears. Ringer Spy The Knocking Thrush, who is a reliable source, dropped us a line to let us know that New Line have registered a new title: The Hobbit: Into the Fire. But for what?
A quick reminder of the history of The Hobbit movie titles may be in order!

As the live feed of the ‘Desolation of Smaug’ Fan Event ended, those of us who were lucky enough to be in a theater were treated to five extended scenes from the upcoming movie that totalled approximately 20 minutes of never-before-seen footage. And what we saw was truly spellbinding!
The theater-exclusive material began with a full music video for the new closing credits song, ‘I See Fire’. It was quite a good song, but it doesn’t quite capture the magic of, say, ‘May It Be’ or ‘Into the West’, but few songs can. It’s a folk/pop ballad about Thorin’s determination to win back Erebor at any cost.
