Ages ago, John Rhys-Davies spent a few days visiting the Hobbit set while he was in New Zealand. Unlike Elijah Wood or Orlando Bloom, for well-known reasons there was no announcement that he would reprise his role as Gimli son of Gloin.
However, at a recent convention, a Reddit reader asked him point-blank about a possible cameo in the Hobbit.
At first [Rhys-Davies] denied it, but after a little pressing he smiled really big, laughed, winked, and said that maybe it was possible. His smile… his laugh… I’m taking this as a pretty big indicator that he will be involved in some small way.
Considering that in Lord of the Rings, Rhys-Davies also provided the voice of Treebeard, could it be possible that for The Hobbit he might cameo something like the voice of one of the trolls? (Highlight the sentence to see our hidden, possibly spoilerish speculation!)

Of course, this is going to involve spoilers. So if you’re spoiler averse, or would prefer to just go to the theatre and find out for yourself, don’t read any further! Continue reading “What’s different in Hobbit trailer #2?”
Our spies have sent us simultaneously exciting and puzzling information about the forthcoming Hobbit trailer:
“Deluxe Digital has sent our theater the new US trailers for this upcoming week, and I was delightfully surprised after I read through the list. We have received the SECOND Hobbit trailer, although the 48fps or any other format is still unknown to me. It instructed us, along with several other theaters, to attach the trailer to Brave, which premieres this Friday.
Unfortunately, our district manager has opted [for] us to attach three different trailers, none of which are The Hobbit.” Continue reading “Hobbit trailer to show in US theatres with Brave. But which trailer?”
In this interview published yesterday in Australian media outlet News.com.au, Billy Connolly speaks forthrightly about the newest projects he’s been involved in: Brave and Quartet.
He saves the best for last though, dropping a bombshell spoiler about his role as Dain Ironfoot in the Hobbit. It’s just so outrageous that maybe, just maybe, he’s pulling our leg?
Search a production diary close enough, and there’s usually a gem hidden away. You probably recall the Radagast and Beorn artwork (spoiler!) that was hidden in PD #5, for example. Now, hunting through PD #7, TORn message board member Shelob’sAppetite has discovered what could be a concept model of the skinchanger Beorn.
Spoiler pictures taken from the PD beyond the cut! Continue reading “Production diary blows Beorn’s cover (again)?”
