Future “Hobbit” director Guillermo del Toro and former “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson sat down with a world-wide internet audience and answered a lot more than the announced “20 questions” this weekend.

Hosted by Weta, there were a lot of minor details and significant confirmations and revelations about the gigantic production that will yield two “Hobbit” related movies, one in 2011 and the second in 2012.

Peter Jackson said,

“2009 will be dedicated to pre-production on both movies and 2010 will be the year we shoot both films back to back. Post productin follows one film at a time with The Hobbit being released Dec(ember) 2011, and F2 (film two) release(d) Dec(ember) 2012.”

Comments coming out of ComicCon reported by IFMagazine: “It is my personal belief that in the next four or five days it’ll be like watching the end of AMERICAN IDOL with a very fat singer. In the next four or five days, we will know if we were able to conclude every legal thing that is pending for me to be able to do it or not. It can go either way, but I can assure you very soon we will know and that’s all I can say about that. I hope I get to do it.” Read More

Guillermo talks Hobbit at NYCC 2008The ‘Reckoning’ is upon us! MTV caught up with Guillermo del Toro at the New York Comic-Con and got yet another snippet concerning ‘The Hobbit’ films. And is it just me, or would Ron Perlman make a perfect Beorn? Let me be the first to throw it out there that if Guillermo del Toro is in fact the director of ‘The Hobbit’ films, we can expect to see Perlman involved in some capacity. He’s a talented actor with a great range and an established fanbase in our genre. Check out the video over at MTV Rough Cut! [Click Here] (Thanks to Forum member BuckyUnderBelly for the heads up!)

nullMessage Board member Elven was kind enough to transcribe the April 20 interview with Guillermo Del Toro from the Voice of Krypton site, posted on TORN here.

“we are down to the last points, but they are very hard points…we are going to be respectful of every single thing that is paradigm. But within that paradigm it will be a movie of mine, and it will be a movie I enjoy making …”

Ed Gross at voicesfromkrypton.com managed a great Guillermo del Toro interview from last weekend’s New York Comic-Con. Mr. del Toro elaborates in much greater detail than ever before (at least on the record) why he was attracted to ‘The Hobbit’ in the first place and explains his vision for how his two films will transition into the Jackson’s trilogy. He says, “we are creating a beautiful overture”. Can you guess what the two scenes he hopes to film he called,”two of the greatest experiences of my life”? The audio is less edited and more telling than anything we have heard so far. Take a listen at VoicesFromKrypton. Dial up users be patient and let the picture of GDT with a Hobbit over his shoulder load, then click the play button. If anybody feels up to transcribing the several minutes of audio feel free to send it to Spymaster@TheOneRing.net
