(The following opinion piece is a follow-up to the Dec 2010 To Be Hot or Not? That is the Dwarf Question)

Forget Figwit. New dwarf snapshots arrived yesterday and there, in all of his glory, is what my fellow female TORn staffers are calling “Bigwit” – “Bilbo is great – Who is that?”

Yes, Kili is looking pretty damn good.

As I predicted, this movie isn’t going to be all bumbling, hairy, stumpy dwarves. Younger dwarves seem taller. Perhaps they shrink as they get older? Younger dwarves aren’t quite as hairy… well, it takes time to grow that much body hair, I guess.

I took a lot of flack for my last column, when I suggested Hollywood demands would force Peter to make the dwarves worthy of being on People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful” list.

Half of you seemed to think it blasphemous to suggest Peter Jackson can do anything wrong… and the other half of you thought that most of the actors were incapable of being Hot. So who are the shallow folks here, eh?

The influx of Dwarf pics continues with a Hitlist MSN Exclusive!

Dean O’Gorman as Fili and Aidan Turner as Kili in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.” Two of the youngest dwarves, Fili and Kili have been born into the royal line of Durin and raised under the stern guardianship of their uncle, Thorin Oakensheild. Neither has ever travelled far, nor ever seen the fabled Dwarf City of Erebor. For both, the journey to the Lonely Mountain represents adventure and excitement. Skilled fighters, both brothers set off on their adventure armed with the invincible courage of youth, neither being able to imagine the fate which lies before them.

Dean O’Gorman is on the left as Fili, and Aidan Turner is on the right as Kili. If you haven’t been following the developments, we’ve seen Gloin and Oin as well as Dori, Nori, and Ori so far. See the bigger image over at MSN! [MSN] (Thanks to Ringer Hope Solo for the heads up!)

Fictional Frontiers, a weekly radio show that speaks with depth about popular culture and the popular arts, features TORn on a regular basis to keep listening audiences world wide caught up on the real world happenings of the fictional Middle-earth. Host Sohaib I. Awan has a long-standing relationship and plenty of kind words for TORn. This week’s chat, in addition to airing on WNJC 1360AM in Philadelphia, is available right here in its extended form. The conversation ranges from the latest news and rumors on ‘The Hobbit’ to careful looks back at the LOTR legacy.

Peter Jackson has always understood how the popularization of the internet changed film. Since the beginning of his pre-production on The Lord of the Rings he was available to fans, sometimes against the wishes of studios, as he included potential ticket buyers into the process of film production.
With Facebook covering all of web land and growing into every demographic possible, Jackson has seized that new platform to remove the big and sometimes slow publicity machine studios have in place and instead speaks right at fans. To see more visit Movies.com

She is described by Peter Jackson as being a true Sylvan Elf, with her name simply meaning ‘Daughter of Mirkwood’. Aside from the assurance she will not have a romantic link to Legolas, we currently know nothing else about her. So, let the speculation begin.
