iamROGUE.com caught up with Elijah Wood at the San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday while he was promoting his current FX series Wilfred. iamROGUE’s reporter took a few moments to ask about his return to New Zealand and what he felt on reprising his role as Frodo Baggins.
Wood replied: “The part is so small that I had no pressure of the original films. I could just come in and revisit the character.”
Highlight possible spoiler: asked whether he will bookend the films, Wood replied, “yeah, that’s kinda the idea.” Could Wood pop up at the end as well as the beginning?
Wood will be at the The Hobbit panel presentation in Hall H on Saturday.
As we reported earlier, today is The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit day at Comic-Con 2012 (aka #HobbitCon) and LEGO® was kind enough to send us this exclusive image of a brand new ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey‘ Playset! The set is called ‘An Unexpected Gathering’ and features Bag End with six mini-figures. As you can see in the image above, we have Bofur holding an axe, Bombur with a sausage and knife, Dwalin wielding a really large weapon and knife, Balin with chalice, Gandalf the Grey with walking staff, and Bilbo Baggins. As you can see the set is highly detailed with greenery, vegetables and much more. From the looks of the image we’ll have a nice inside component to play with as well. Stay tuned as we report more from Comic-Con 2012! [Live Coverage]
Comic-Con 2012 kicks off on Thursday and is expected to attract more than 125,000 people. Elijah Wood, reprising his Frodo Baggins for The Hobbit, will be back there this year — a decade after he accompanied director Peter Jackson to promote Fellowship of the Ring.
Wood told Reuters: “The scale of The Hobbit is larger, the anticipation is potentially greater, everything feels a little bit bigger. For so long, people didn’t think there would be a film, so the fact that there is finally, people have been anticipating this for a long time.”
Reuters says the studio will finally show extended film clips [my emphasis] at Comic-Con. Jackson is expected to turn out to meet fans and answer questions. Thanks to Ringer Elpidha for the heads-up on the article.

Elijah Wood talks to NZTV’s ‘Breakfast’ show about his experience judging in the V 48 Hours Film Festival. The Grand Winner this year is a Wellington-made zombie movie, ‘Brains,’ which judges called both “hilarious” and “surprisingly touching.”
In the interview, Elijah also talks about ‘The Hobbit’ and New Zealand. You can watch it here.
Ringer Elpidha tells us that Craig Ferguson interviewed Elijah Wood last night on the Late Late Show about the show Wilfred. The Hobbit wrap party came up in the chat, but Wood didn’t spill any more details about the production.
Ferguson’s interview with Wood begins roughly 19 minutes into the show.
