thdos-trailer01-052 This evening saw the release of the latest TV Spot for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug! Tonight we get a spot focused primarily on the Elven warrior Tauriel, though we also get a couple new shots of our main characters as well (keep an eye out especially for the shot right at the end!).

Having a character devoted TV Spot reminds me of the original ads for The Fellowship of the Ring (there were ones focused on Frodo, Gandalf, Aragorn & Arwen). I very much hope that we see this trend continue in the coming weeks. Continue reading “The Desolation of Smaug TV Spot #8 is here!”

Cinema Magazine Group Shot German magazine CINEMA has devoted several pages of its December issue to the filming and post production of the second film in Peter Jackson’s Hobbit Trilogy – The Desolation of Smaug. They offered a wealth of interesting tidbits – not the least of which was a glimpse at what could potentially be the opening prologue of film two.

Our army of spies and crebain have alerted us to its existence, and a recording of it is already floating about around on the internet. live event To wrap up the week that saw an unprecedented live fan event where fans gathered in theaters around the world with cast and crew, here is a list of things that stood out for TORn staff.

During the event, fans were treated to costume displays, live Q&As, a preview of the end credit music video, and most importantly, 20 minutes of nearly complete, previously unseen footage. Tauriel After the worldwide Fan Event the other day, Evangeline Lilly stuck around to chat with Entertainment Weekly moderator Anthony Breznican and answer a few more questions from fans at The Grove in Los Angeles. Even if you watched the live event online, you won’t have caught this before.
