When TheOneRing.net marked its 10th anniversary in 2009, we celebrated in style. In fact, we had such a good time, we decided to continue to celebrate every year on April 26, the date that TORn was established.
Founders Day is TheOneRing.net’s official holiday, filled with the best that a virtual party can offer. If you’re new(er) to the site, it’s a chance to find out about the roots of the site, about the four founders, and to say thanks to the people who keep this place going.
We’re happy to say that our Founder’s Day 2011 celebration has been a resounding success (see Founder’s Day story below)! Of the many wonderful contributions of the day, one stood out as especially representative of the camaraderie that many of us share as fans of J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson’s movies, and fantasy in general. Discussion board member One Ringer put together a wonderful retrospective of fan gatherings to mark the special day. In One Ringer’s own words:

If you’ve been around for a bit, it’s a great day to reminisce, tell war stories, and reflect on all the adventures and friendships that have been forged over the years. There will be new things popping up all day on several of the message boards — so don’t be shy! Hunt around, find a party game you like, or a conversation you enjoy, and dive in! During my association with TheOneRing.net I have often felt very fortunate to know great people and be in great places. Sometimes I have been lucky enough to have my camera along.
Out of that vast TORn photo library that includes digital images, and old scratched negitives, I put a few images together with some music from Arjan Kiel, (with thanks to fan film ‘Born of Hope,’) to pay tribute to the whole community of TheOneRing.net.

Happy, happy birthday to TheOneRing.net!! TheOneRing.net domain name was created exactly 10 years ago today and what an awesome journey it’s been. We can’t thank the founders (pictured below) enough, except to christen this day as “Founders Day” and to continue to celebrate on every Anniversary (who doesn’t love a good party).
A reminder, the celebration on our message boards is still going strong, with many fun activities and many well wishes from our VIP friends. So please join us. Here’s to ten more wonderful years!!
