Announced in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, Warner Bros. embarked on the ultimate fan contest experience. Hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide sent in videos and proved their quality. It was amazing to see the community support each other (even in the midst of competition) and share in the one of a kind experience. The #HobbitFanContest shows how wonderful a relationship a studio can have with its fans.

The Happy Hobbit girls hit the premiere carpet in Hollywood and finally met the actors with whom they shared a viral video: Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace! Shadow of Mordor takes the critics by storm
At the end of September, the action role-playing game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor debuted to the acclaim of fans and critics alike. Gameplay trailers and teasers had been raising interest in the title for months, but the game has gone from strength to strength and has made a number of game of the year lists.
Minas Tirith Lego fan proposal gathers 10k backers
Lego Ideas is an initiative by the Lego company that allows fans and collectors to propose ideas for sets, and if they gather sufficient support, have them evaluated by a review board for their commercial potential.
One Lego fan, NujuMetru, developed a proposal for a Minas Tirith set, and with the help of TORn’s readers gathered the 10,000 supporters required to move to the review stage. The Lego Ideas expert panel is set to evaluate NujuMetru’s design in January next year. Cross fingers that it pases muster!
