hobbit_bbc_radio_4The third time’s the charm as our very own Senior Staff writer Clifford ‘Quickbeam’ Broadway is set to deliver an entertaining scholarly presentation on Dec. 10th on the various adaptations of THE HOBBIT that have been crafted over 76 years. In tandem with the excitement of the West Coast Premiere of “The Battle of the Five Armies” local residents of Southern California are welcome to attend this FREE event at the Valencia Library in Santa Clarita, just a little ways north of Hollywood.

Everyone who has a curiosity to learn more about THE HOBBIT can come to this all-ages event! Every year, Clifford Broadway (host of our livestream weekly show TORn TUESDAY and writer/producer of the award winning documentary feature RINGERS: LORD OF THE FANS) brings his expertise on all things Tolkien to deliver a lively presentation at the Santa Clarita Public Library. Click here for full details. This year on WEDNESDAY, December 10th (from 6:30 to 8PM) Clifford will lift the veil on the many adaptations that have been based on our favorite story, THE HOBBIT.

Marvel at the 12-minute teeny-tiny animated short that put a ridiculous truncation into the public consciousness just to satisfy a contractual demand! Enjoy the smooth and elegant BBC Radio adaptation where Ian Holm first made his imprint on Middle-earth.  There’s more from the 1977 animated film from Rankin/Bass, replete with wonderful if folksy songs by Glenn Yarborough. We take a look at comic books and video games too, before getting to the ultimate 3-film mega adaptation most recently seen in cinemas courtesy of Peter Jackson.

The event is FREE and all attendees will have a chance to win pairs of tickets to see BOTFA at an early private screening!  Join us at the Valencia Branch of the Santa Clarita Public Library at 23743 W. Valencia Blvd., Santa Clarita, CA 91355.  Contact number with questions: 661-259-0750.

This event is all ages and is sponsored by the Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library.
