Rare and Unique Items from Greg and Tim Hildebrandt Available Now!
Back in the 1970’s Greg and Tim Hildebrandt created 3 Tolkien themed calendars for Ballantine Books, beginning around the time of the 25th anniversary of the publishing of ‘The Lord of the Rings’. During this resurgence of popularity for Tolkien’s collective works, those calendars provided an entire generation’s vision of Middle-earth and all the characters within. Since the release of those calendars, very few alternative versions of those images have been available outside of the calendars and a few art books. Greg and Tim were always very particular about the quality of how their art was showcased. That is all changing, much of this work is now being released in multiple formats that meet with Greg’s exacting standards.
SpiderWebArt Gallery, who have represented the Brothers Hildebrandt’s Tolkien Art for the past 35 years, are making publicly available all this art from the 1970’s. Fans will have many choices of format, including Canvas Giclees hand signed and numbered by Greg Hildebrandt, a few Black and White Giclees on watercolor paper, and vintage Tin Signs with the art on it. The Giclees will be available in a Limited release, with only a few prints of each of the designs. This writer has a few favorites among the Calendar images, including Galadriel’s Ring, the Unexpected Party, the Pillars of the King, and Smaug sitting on his treasure and the Evil Tower of Cirith Ungol.
Everything above will be signed by Greg Hildebrandt only, since Tim sailed West in 2006. But the SpiderWebArt Gallery has one final surprise up their sleeves. They still have a few of the Limited edition, slip-cased Tolkien art book that was published by Watson-Guptil in 2001 and signed by both Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. This edition is a linen covered slip-cased book with foil stamping, each one is numbered and hand signed and can be ordered with a Remarque sketch by Greg done on the inside cover. It also happens to be available in paperback as well, just in case you don’t already have enough choices. Now all you have to do is figure out which format you would like, or just get it in the book and have everything all at once.
It goes without saying that any of these items would make an amazing gift this season or any season!
